Fraîcheur’s Gua Sha Facial Massager is the Gem

It literally is a gem! Made from beautiful natural crystal, Fraîcheur’s Gua Sha Facial Massager is not only pretty to look at, but it will also enrich your beauty routine and connect you with an ancient practice that followers of the technique don’t question. Using our Gua Sha tool to gently massage your face encourages lymphatic drainage and improves microcirculation of the soft tissue for smoother looking skin. Gua Sha facial massages can improve the appearance and elasticity of your complexion, reduce puffiness and fine lines, ease muscle tension and aid with the absorption of other therapeutic facial products.

What is Gua Sha? … It’s ancient wisdom!

A natural traditional alternative Chinese therapy, Gua Sha’s literal meaning is to “scrape petechiae”. “Petachiae” refers to the raised, rash-like, red dots that show under the skin when this method is used intensely. It can treat chronic pain anywhere on the body and the massage technique will vary in intensity depending on where on the body you are treating. Generally, Gua Sha facials are done very gently so you don’t tend to get the full “petechiae” affect from a deep Gua Sha massage.

In Chinese medicine it is believed to break up the stagnant energy from the body’s Chi (life energy), practitioners believe stagnant energy to be responsible for inflammation, an underlying side effect of many conditions that cause chronic pain.

The healing benefits of crystals

The power of citrine is brighter than the sun

The name of this quartz gemstone is derived from the French word for “lemon” describing its yellow, citrus-like hues. In crystal therapy the colour of the gemstone is just as important as the type of stone and yellow/orange is said to attract warmth, happiness, joy, and healing and is connected to the light power of the Sun. It is said to not only attract success and prosperity, but also reverse degenerative energies and help balance chemical imbalances in the body.

Rose quartz helps complexions and mends broken hearts

Rose quartz has a unique, recognisable pink colour that instantly connects your energy to concepts of love, as well as emotional connection and healing. Pink quartz is globally and commercially recognised to be symbolic of compassion and kindness, and with some meditation, can bring you inner peace and self-love. Traditionally, it’s believed that invoking the power of rose quartz can increase blood circulation due to its intrinsic connection to the heart.

Fraîcheur Paris’ Citrine & Rose Quartz Gua Sha Facial Massagers

Combining the powers of ancient Chinese ideology and crystal therapy, Fraîcheur Paris have developed the premier Gua Sha tool to complement your beauty routine. If you consider your skincare a deep and spiritual meditative experience, the cool connection to the Earth energy of crystals will weave their magic deep inside your exterior appearance.

If a facial massage isn’t relaxing enough, consider the gentle feeling of a beautiful cool stone scraping away the energy of a bad day, an unpleasant exchange or just the baggage of over-exertion. Citrine and rose quartz were the best gems to choose for our Gua Sha massager.

The inside outside facial – how to Gua Sha!

Due to the natural formation of the stones, each Fraîcheur Paris Gua Sha tool is unique in colour and shape. If you are into the nature of universal attraction, you may even believe that the crystal chose you! Therefore, you need to find your groove and connect to the uniqueness of the gua sha crystal you receive. A gua sha massage’s main aim is to stimulate your blood flow around the areas that you want to heal, when new blood arrives to your soft tissues it brings new nutrients and collagen with it, encouraging your body’s natural regenerative processes.

There is no one size fit all approach to gua sha tool use, so long as you follow some basics, it’ up to you how you choose to gua sha. Here’s a couple of pointers:

  • Use a serum, face oil or moisturiser and apply to your face, neck and decolletage so that the skin is slippery when the gua sha tool moves over it’s surface, any friction will encourage irritation.
  • Use the wider, concave side of the tool and start at the base of one side of your neck, stroking upwards towards the jawline. Repeat a few times and duplicate to the other side, then move to the front.
  • Use gentle pressure and apply even strokes against the skin, preferable in the direction of the lymphatic flow.
  • Use a combination of short and long strokes.
  • Use the elements of the same massage technique you might use when using our ice globes, a good article for you to read can be found here.

You can gua sha at least once a week, but it’s best to fit it in three times a week to see the benefits. You can keep one in your purse, one in the car or one in your desk drawer at work – wherever you are you can gua sha!
